Like all the Zagorochoria villages, Monodendri is built entirely of stone, with cobblestone paths and imposing mansions that preserve the aristocratic air of the 18th and 19th centuries.

The Monastery of Agia Paraskevi and the Balcony

The main attraction of Monodendri is the Monastery of Agia Paraskevi. The monastery was founded in the 15th century and is built on the edge of a cliff, directly above the gorge.

• The Balcony: From the monastery, a stone path leads to a small, natural balcony with a spectacular view. From there, visitors can see the depth of the Vikos Gorge, while the Voidomatis stream appears as a thin blue line at the bottom.
• The Crevice: At this point, visitors realize the sheer scale of the gorge, which reaches a depth of 900 meters.

A Gateway for Hiking

Monodendri also serves as the starting point for the descent into the Vikos Gorge. The trail that begins from the village is one of the most famous in Greece, leading experienced hikers to the bottom of the gorge and towards the village of Vikos.
